Highwood, but what year?

My thanks to former Highwoodian Ann for the photo and to Mark for his attempts to date the photo.  They suggested, in the 'flares' era, any time after 1972...

Alan has helped us to narrow down the possibilities: ' I would say that this photo was taken in 1976 or 1977. Dr Boyd Gunnell is next to the bus, I think he started teaching at Highwood in 1976.'  Paul Wharf's distinctive Renault, parked outside his office, is also a clue as he had the car until 1977.

The Birds of Prey Day

An extract from: My First Day at School

by Stuart Ryland published in Twiglet

Highwood is the type of school
That makes you feel at home
Everyone's so friendly
You never feel alone.

My brother went there first you see
So I didn't feel too scared
For I knew what it was like
And that the teachers cared.

At the end of a very exciting day
Where everything looked grand
I felt that my future years here
Would be the best that could be found.

Clearwell Caves trip: remember the tunnels we wriggled through?
