Head's Report to Governors

July 1991

Conclusion

Highwood remains proud of its achievements and of its service to the community of Nailsworth. Governors will need no reminding of our long tradition of successful innovation and our proud record of providing education of the highest quality for our pupils, and this has continued to the end.

The staff have shown great fortitude and (because Highwood School has always placed its children first) they have been determined to involve the children in exciting and stimulating projects. It is a credit to them that the atmosphere has remained cheerful, positive and exhilarating.

Likewise the support staff, who have been so involved in the activities of the school and take such pride in their own special tasks, should be congratulated. They have been a key part of this quite remarkable team, as indeed have the parents whose loyalty was unquestionable.

We would like to thank the Governing Body for all their efforts over the years, not least during the campaign to save the school when their hard work was so evident. The support which they have given and their way of working together with the staff as part of an integrated team have been invaluable.

We are convinced that, although the fabric of the school may be taken away, the spirit of what we have achieved will live on. Those of us who have been associated with the school, in whatever capacity, must consider ourselves to be privileged to have been part of the Highwood experience.
