Margaret Bolton, LONDON / AUSTRALIA. Looking for any information about Ann (Annie) WELLS born 5 Jun 1842, in Stamford, (Huntingdonshire or Lincoln), daughter of Henry Sims WELLS and Frances. She married James John WARWICK plasterer, probably about 1862. Children John James (born abt 1863 Islington), Joseph (abt 1865 Shoreditch), Arthur (abt 1867 Shoreditch), Annie (abt 1869 Shoreditch who must have died before 1875), Emma (b Mar Qtr 1871 Shoreditch), Annie (Sep Qtr 1975  Hackney), Walter (Dec Qtr 1879 Hackney), perhaps others too, all WARWICK. The family are on the 1871 British census at St Leonard Shoreditch but don’t appear to be on the 1881 census. Family migrated to Australia. Neither Annie nee Wells nor James John (snr) Warwick’s deaths appear to be on NSW BDM up till 1945. Any further information gratefully received. margbsenet.com.au

Jane Otto, KENSINGTON / LAMBETH / FULHAM. I am trying to find information about Albert George Wells who married Lizzie Canvin (nee Perrett) in 1886 in Kensington. I have found the family (including 4 children) living in Lambeth in the 1901 census. I am keen to find other researchers tracing this line as Lizzie Canvin was my great grandmother. Albert George Wells was her second husband. Her first husband, George Edward Canvin, died in 1880. They had two children together: Florence Louisa Canvin (b. 1878 d. 1879) and George Edward Thomas Canvin (b. 1880 d.1949). After her husband's death she returned to her family home in Devizes.

George Edward Thomas Canvin lived with Lizzie's parents until their deaths and then moved to London to live with his paternal grandmother and her daughter. Unable to continue living there after his grandmother's death, he returned to Devizes where he joined the 12t Lancers and fought in the Boer War. He was discharged in 1902 and lived in Fulham. His discharge papers gave his mother, Lizzie Wells, as next of kin 'address unknown'.

To my knowledge, he knew nothing of his mother after she remarried. He certainly knew nothing of his half brothers and sisters. The saddest part of the story is that they lived in such close proximity to each other but never knew. I would very much like to hear from anyone tracing this line and would like to share pictures and information with any surviving descendents. JaneAOttoaol.com

Pete Wells , BETHNAL GREEN / HACKNEY / SHOREDITCH / HAGGERSTON / HOXTON / MARYLEBONE / WILTSHIRE. My Wells family are from the county of Wiltshire (Woodborough, and Stanton St. Bernard area in the main) and I have just managed to get back to the 1500 period.  My problem is during the 1860s when Frank Wells came to Bethnal Green and in 1869 married Jane Butterworth. The 1871 census shows him living with his in laws in Bird Cage Walk. They later moved into the Hackney area,  Hoxton, Shoreditch and Haggerston. In all they had four children: William Wells my grandfather who married a Lily Pearce from Bucks; Emily Alice Wells who married a Thomas Wise from Haggerston; Jane Wells who married a Henry Worton; and the oldest son Frank Wells, born 1879 in Hoxton, who is recorded on the 1901 census age 22 born St. Lukes. As yet I have found no other details of this Wells apart from that he was living in Pritchard Road in 1901. I would like to hear from any descendants who may be out there.

Job Wells age 36 born Etchilhamton Wiltshire, on the 1851 Woodborough census has one son named William Wells born Stanton St. Bernard, Wiltshire. By 1881, this son is found living in Walcot, Bath, Somerset with his own family.  I am keen to find if possible descendants of this William's oldest son, another William, living in Marylebone in 1901 and working as a French Polisher. Jenny Ward (of Tasmania Australia and UK before 1982), BETHNAL GREEN, Charlotte Wells - London/Middlesex. I am new to this and hoping to find some of my father's living relatives. Charlotte Wells children were my father's half sisters and brothers. Charlotte Wells was born about 1855 (parents Matilda [Bradley] and Thomas Wells, a baker) in Bethnal Green, she married, James (Hampden) Lawson in 1873 in Bethnal Green and was living at 6, Hill Street, Bethnal Green, London, Middlesex in 1881. Their following children who survived are:- James Robertson Lawson born 16.2.1874. Albert born 2.11.1877 and Arthur born 22.3.1881.  (There was also possibly a Joseph born in 1878.) James remarried in 1901 so either Charlotte had died by this time or he was a bigamist, who knows? Hoping to hear from someone.  ward28dzamvision.net.au
