Wills are often very useful for obtaining information on family relationships. Such sources are especially valuable for early times before parish registers were uniformly established. They can give a considerable insight into the social context and material background of the family and time in question, especially when an associated inventory exists. The first 3 generations of our Wells family tree were established primarily on the content of wills. |

When our available Yorkshire entries are complete, they will be checked against information supplied by indepedent researchers and this line will then be removed. There are probate courts in Yorkshire from which we have not yet collected details - this will NOT be done in the near future
